Swimming Pool Work Wins ‘Splashing’ Prize
A builder who delighted the owners of a 19th century house with a ‘stunning’ extension including a swimming pool has won a top prize for his work.
Graham Bennett, of Bennett Homes, Dorrington, has claimed the top large-scale renovation category prize in the Midlands region of the Master Builder of the Year Awards for an extension to the property which dates from around the 1800s. The work at the Sedars, in London Road, was chosen from hundreds of entries.
The extension, which incorporates a swimming pool and Jacuzzi, is said to match the original building exactly, without spoiling any of its charm. The pool is screened from a dining area by a full glass wall and has its own facilities. Homeowners John and Jane Coward are very happy with the finished result, and full of praise for Graham and his team at Bennett Homes Ltd.
Mr Coward said: “The project is a joy to behold. Clever detailing has created an extension to perfectly complement our original house – people say it looks original”
The awards are part of a national search by The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) for the best builders in Britain – all of them nominated by their customers.
Bennett Homes Ltd will now go forward to the National Master Builder of the Year Awards. Winners will be announced and presented with their awards by Sarah Beeny of Channel 4’s Property Ladder on Thursday, September 8.
Quality
John Watson, Midlands regional director of the FMB, said: “The awards are the building industry’s response to all those bad builder stories. Homeowners have provided us with details of builders who have given them high quality workmanship and great standards of service – we reward the best of those companies, at the same time proving that building work in the Midlands outshines the rest”
The national winner will pick up the Master Builder of the Year title and a brand new Light Commercial Vehicle of their choice provided by Nissan Motor (GB) Limited who are sponsoring the award. The winning customer can pack their bags for a £3,000 holiday of their choice.
